Configuration options for the V300 The modular system for highly productive shaft machining

The V300 is designed for maximum adaptability in shaft machining and combines turning, drilling, milling and gear machining in a modular machine concept. Depending on the machining task, it can be equipped with a multifunction head and tool magazine as well as tool turrets. In the ideal configuration, up to four tool carriers are possible. This allows the machine to be precisely configured for the respective workpiece, the required machining scope and the economic requirements of production. From focused gear machining to highly integrated complete machining, the result is a solution that adapts flexibly to customer requirements while enabling reduced production times and high workpiece quality.

The V300 is particularly strong wherever a wide variety of manufacturing processes need to be combined in a single machine. With a center drive and up to four tool turrets for the simultaneous machining of both shaft ends, or as a counter-spindle machine for complete machining, it offers a wide range of configuration options for medium to very high production volumes. This concept is complemented by integrated automation solutions. Automatic tool changes, position-oriented part transfer as well as the integration of gantries and further automation solutions can be implemented with ease. This makes the V300 a powerful platform for highly productive, expandable and future-proof shaft production.

Application examples

Hollow shaft with internal and external contours as well as functional gearing
V300 Complex hollow shafts precisely machined in a single process

A manufacturer of drive components produces a hollow shaft with bearing seats as well as additional turning, drilling and milling operations on one side, while functional gearing is machined on the other. The center section of the component has no relevant functional features, making the hollow shaft ideally suited for a manufacturing concept with center drive. Since the drive force is introduced via the center of the workpiece, both ends can be machined in parallel in a single setup. Positional tolerances between the two ends are minimized, as reclamping errors are eliminated. Parallel machining of both sides results in very short machining times and therefore high efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

For this application, the V300 with center drive is particularly well suited. The machine concept enables complete machining in a single setup with up to four tool carriers. With three tool turrets and one multifunction head with magazine, turning, drilling, milling and gear machining operations can be combined in one continuous process. This allows the side with the bearing seats and additional machining features to be produced with the same process reliability as the opposite side with the functional gearing.

The result is a hollow shaft in which complex internal and external machining as well as gear machining are brought together in a coordinated manufacturing concept. For the customer, this means a single setup, precise references between all functionally relevant surfaces and a cost-optimized solution for their components.

FAQ
Which types of gearing are possible with the V300?

With the robust motorized milling spindle, gear skiving and gear hobbing up to module 6 are possible for both internal and external gears.

What is the advantage of center-drive technology?

Center-drive technology enables simultaneous machining of both shaft ends, ensuring absolute positional accuracy between the two sides.

How flexibly can the V300 be configured?

Very flexibly. Depending on the requirements, the V300 is available with main and counter spindle, center drive, steady rests as well as fixed, movable or retractable tailstock. Depending on the configuration, driven tools are integrated via turret or multifunction head.

What automation options are available?

The V300 can be equipped with integrated automation, an internal loader with external magazine, or a gantry for top loading including an external measuring station.

Why is the V300 particularly cost-effective?

Thanks to its modular system and workpiece-specific configuration, the V300 helps reduce production times, lower unit costs and optimize both workpiece quality and resource utilization.

Which control system and software are used?

In general, all PITTLER machines are equipped with the latest version of SIEMENS SINUMERIK ONE.
Optionally, the V300 can be equipped with the original PITTLER SKIVING software, which simplifies gear programming. It also enables easy gear corrections and free input of cutting data. This significantly simplifies programming directly at the machine. Thanks to automatic data calculation, programming errors are reduced. To ensure consistent component quality, PITTLER measuring and inspection software is also available.
